Alan Morton - The Fugitive Poets

Alan Morton

Alan Morton hails from Maryville, Tennessee – in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. There, Alan grew up listening to the music of Dan Fogelberg, The Eagles, and his own grandfather.

Alan’s mandolin licks hold up the lead melody lines on many of The Poets’songs. Additionally, his vocals are a powerful asset, and he doubles on guitar when called upon.

Alan has, also, penned a number of The Poets’ original tunes, often with a twist of his own unique humor, including the now famous I Am An Armadillo.

Alan’s Pickin’ A Lonesome Song is a personal tribute to his grandfather, who built Alan’s first banjo and taught him to play. It resonates Alan’s rich heritage of mountain music with its deep roots in family and tradition. Alan brings a clear and defining mountain hue to The Fugitive Poets palette of sound.

Alan is also an artist and a born teacher.
